Denise views counselling and therapy as deeply personal journeys—opportunities to explore and process life experiences, some of which have a more profound impact than others. Drawing on her background in mental health and private practice, she works collaboratively alongside clients as they move toward greater clarity, insight, and understanding. Denise fosters a safe and supportive environment where emotions can be expressed openly, and she remains a steady, compassionate presence as clients explore their experiences and their effects.
Her practice is grounded in a client-centred approach, with the belief that each individual is the expert of their own story. Denise partners with clients to identify meaningful goals and tailors her approach to meet their unique needs. She integrates a range of evidence-based modalities, including trauma-informed therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), EMDR, solution-focused therapy, Gottman Method therapy, and narrative therapy. She is passionate about helping clients recognize and build upon their inherent strengths, while addressing the impact of shame and guilt, which often take up more space in people’s lives than they deserve.
Denise works with youth, adults, and couples, supporting them in navigating stress, anxiety, and the complexities of modern life. She values the importance of attachment and connection, and often encourages clients to draw on the support of family, friends, and community as part of the healing process. Whether individuals are processing loss, managing intense emotions, or seeking clarity during challenging times, Denise offers a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space for growth.
Outside of her professional work, Denise enjoys spending time with her husband and sons, her dogs Dave and Kevin, gardening, reading, and pursuing her newest creative interest—quilting.
